Os BRICS são uma boa forma para que o Brasil e a África do Sul tenham mais voz no mundo, de acordo com o professor Paulo Esteves
O Supervisor Geral do BRICS Policy Center, Prof. Paulo Esteves, concedeu uma entrevista à jornalista Mary Kay Magistad, da Public Radio International (PRI). Na matéria, disponível somente em inglês e que também pode ser acessada em podcast, intitulada “Brazil defies (positive) expectations”, o Prof. Esteves fala sobre os BRICS e o papel do Brasil no grupo. Além disso, Mary Kay aborda os problemas enfrentados atualmente pelo país e possíveis cenários futuros.
“For the Russians, the BRICS were a geopolitical instrument. BRICS was always a way to balance power with the United States,” says Paulo Esteves, an international relations professor at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, who heads the BRICS Policy Center there.
For Brazil and South Africa, BRICS seemed a good way to have more of a voice in the world. For India, it offered a different way to interact with China. For China, Esteves says, it was a way to soften, even camouflage, some of China’s aggressive international trade and investing.”
