Interview with Paul D. Williams

On May 28, 2018, the Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM, IRI/PUC-Rio) interviewed Paul D. Williams, from the George Washington University. He answered the following questions:

00:08 Can you discuss current pressures for increasingly robust peace operations? What are the main criticisms to this trend?

02:30 Do you see a trend of approximation between counterinsurgency and counterterrorism practices and peace operations?

Paul D. Williams was in Rio for the workshop “Peace Operations and Peace Agreements: Experiences from the Global South”, held by GSUM at the BRICS Policy Center, in partnership with the Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro and with Columbia University School of Professional Studies. The event was mediated by Dr. José Pascal da Rocha. GSUM is an initiative of the Institute of International Relations of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro through the BRICS Policy Center.
